Hi Laura!

My husband, Chuck, has been a resident of Your Life since Christmas. During these past six months we have both made connections with various staff members who have demonstrated at every turn that they deeply care about the residents, and that what they do is more than just a job. Never minimalists, they exceed expectations through their genuine interest, caring attitude and actions. With so many memory care options in the area, the staff members at Your Life are the reason my husband is a resident.

I would like to call attention to some of your employees who do a stellar job on a daily basis. Since I visit mostly during the day, I do not have the opportunity to meet many on other shifts, and I am certain there are others who deserve recognition. Here, then, are just a few of your wonderful staff members on whom I would like to shine a light:

France: Besides always being cheerful, she goes out of her way to keep me in the loop about my husband’s good, as well as not so good days. She never hesitates to call me when needed, and always takes the time to answer my questions or handle any medical need that may arise. Once when I had to take my husband out for care, and he was becoming agitated in the car, I called her and she met me outside the main entrance with Ativan gel in hand and applied to my husband when I rolled the window down. This “drive by” allowed me to get him where he needed to be, and I don’t know how I would have managed without her help.

Lorene: I think she would do this job even if she wasn’t getting paid (please don’t consider that option!). She truly enjoys all the residents and makes both myself and Chuck feel like we are her top priority. She stops to chat with Chuck and even when not assigned to him, she manages to find time just to pop in. I always know when she is his caregiver, as he always looks his best and is well cared for in every way. She is a gem.

Christine: Well, I think Christine might be technically a fantastic employee in housekeeping, but I hope you are aware that her skills far exceed her job description. She does everything and also knows where everything is! She cannot only find me a wheelchair, keep a room in perfect condition and find missing clothes but also interacts and assists daily with the residents. My husband responds well to her, and she often can intervene when he becomes agitated. I know she has him “help” her by pushing the cart and other activities that make him feel valued and useful. She is beyond kind and caring and goes far beyond her job description.

Lomiah: What can I say about this caring powerhouse that loves the residents and her job? There is no other Memory Care facility (I think I have visited them all) in the area that can come even close to her activities, energy, and compassion. My husband is engaged and the mental stimulation is invaluable in helping with his agitation.

These are the employees with whom my husband and I have the most contact, and I am sure there are many other deserving staff members. Kim, Myrta, Betty, Michelle, the evening nursing staff of James and Hilda and so many others whose names I do not know have always been helpful as well.

I do hope you will be able to recognize these employees, so they will know their dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed. I observed on the website that you are looking to highlight those employees who do an exceptional job. Well, here are five names to begin the awards!

All the best! Lillian G.
